The goal of the ML1 game trailer was to capture Armando’s psychedelic journey as he races to deliver a message to England's Queen to save Earth. We aimed to reflect the game’s unique, retro-styled narrative, filled with wild encounters and cultural nods, creating a trailer that excites indie game fans and those who love pop culture-driven stories
To bring Armando's trip to life, we started with storyboarding in Maya and built old-school 2000s environments in Unreal Engine. Character animations were enhanced with mocap in MotionBuilder, while ZBrush and Substance Painter were used for detailed character modeling and texturing. Houdini added dynamic effects like UFO chases, and final touches were made in Nuke and After Effects for a polished, trippy aesthetic that matches the game’s vibe.
Armando is a quirky hero on a mission to deliver a life-saving message to England’s Queen. Along his trip, he meets eccentric allies and pop culture icons, adding vibrant twists to his journey.
Set across different continents, the game’s environments draw inspiration from 2000s classics like Need for Speed, featuring vibrant, retro cityscapes, wild terrains, and surreal backdrops. Each scene captures the nostalgic, trippy vibe of Armando's adventure.
